Closer To Home is a podcast exploring the central importance of home to human welfare, identity and wellbeing. Home is more than just shelter. It is a physical, emotional and psychological space which often extends beyond the four walls of a dwelling. We need shelter to survive, but we need more than shelter if we are to thrive - we need a safe, dependable idea of home. We suggest that this has become more difficult to attain, and it may be entirely out of reach for some.

We often talk about a housing crisis, both in the UK and internationally. There is an urgent need to address both the volume and affordability of new supply. But a house doesn't automatically make a home.

Our proposition: 'We are dealing not only with a housing crisis, but also a home crisis.'

We examine this question from a range of angles and with a range of engaging and informative guests. We ask thoughtful questions, surface hidden assumptions, and reflect, discuss, and share insights. We might sometimes disagree, but always in the spirit of curiosity, not combat.
